| Gauging We carry out gauging surveys for clearance and as-built (acceptance) purposes. Gauging surveys are most commonly required at tunnels, platforms, cuttings and bridges (both over and under). The surveys may be coordinated and referenced to PGMs for grid and elevation or may simply be a schedule of clearances. According to requirements we can deliver the results as 3D data files in GENIO (MXrail), AutoCad or Microstation formats or, alternatively, we can produce schedules of Height and Offset from the running edge (ClearRoute files). Most gauging surveys will require a possession by reason of the restricted access in platforms, tunnels and viaducts. Simple sites may be gauged by simple methods such as a lasersweep at regular intervals. A total station and rail shoe may be used for platform gauging. However these are all discrete point gauging and take no account of what happens in between the observed points or profiles. A much more complete gauging solution is to use 3D scanning, either static or kinematic, that will scan everything and leaves nothing to chance. Technologies • Total stations • 3D scanners • Kinematic scanners |
