Panmon Project – Cheddington

The Panmon Programme was a Network Rail project to mount special cameras on selected gantry’s to monitor wear on the contact wire. This information can then be transmitted back over time to an office for analysis.

These cameras are heavy and as there could be up to 4 on the gantry it was decided to have a detailed 3D Model processed for a number of structures. This involved modelling virtually every single piece of steel on the gantry to decide how to affix the camera to the steelwork and also to later carry out a finite analysis on the structure to detect any possible deformation.
