Dimensional Surveying Bridges, viaducts, jetties, towers and tunnels are all types of structures that have one thing in common - they never exist as they were designed or built. Construction tolerances, settlement, stress and ageing all contribute to the distortion from the design. Simple asset management may be satisfied by a scaled photo-montage. Any archive records, retrofit or modification work will require a dimensional survey with data supplied in CAD either 2D or 3D. Without exception the best way to survey a structure is by 3D scanning. Modelling can be as detailed as needed, even down to the last rivet, and data supplied in 3D CAD. Any later additions to the scope can be easily added without revisiting the site.
